The backpack seems really strong and well made, with lots of pockets. The rigid base helps keep the structure when the weight is added. We took it for a trial run and Jack loves it, almost too much. He was so happy that he wouldn't get out when we got home. It was cold out, so we put a light blanket in the bottom to cover the mesh areas and keep it warmer. The only slight negative is that Jack is a bit too big so his head comes out through the main zips instead of the opening. It's OK though and we think we'll just find a way to restrict the zips from opening when he's inside to make sure he can't escape (maybe tie them together with a length of string). Jack has arthritis, so now we can go on longer walks and he can rest when he gets tired or starts limping. It's a

This bag is so useful for taking my jack russell into shops with me, and serves as a normal rucksack when she is walking next to me. It needs more pockets but I just combine it with a shoulder bag for my phone and purse et c. Good quality and design and my dog does not dislike being inside

Perfect Emma!

The backpack arrived really quickly, thank you. My girl wasn't sure at first (she's a terrier with very strong ideas) but we practised around the house, carrying her on my front. We used the rucksack at the weekend when she got tired, and she was happy enough to let the toddler help get her in, and didn't rush to escape when we reached the car.

Practice makes perfect! I'm glad to hear that she's taken to it and hope that she grows increasingly comfortable with taking a well deserved load off her paws at the end of a long adventure. Thanks for your review!

This is a really nice carrier and comfortable to wear. It is well made, using quality materials, sturdy and suitable for small to medium size dogs. My dog soon got used to being carried and settled in the carrier when out for walks. It is equally as useful as an ordinary rucksack with plenty of space inside for hiking clothes and dog walking necessities. I am really pleased with my purchase.

Whilst far from a cheap option, the materials, design and build quality here feel very similar to my favourite Osprey rucksacks. It seems well designed throughout with a rigid floor and a luxurious 'pad' for the dog, alongside plenty of room to stash dog and/or human gear. Our 4 month, 5kg Cocker Spaniel pup Jasper fits perfectly with plenty of growing room - he loves the vantage point and gentle rocking. The only confusing thing was the included poles to brace the bottom - there aren't instructions for how or when these should be used. Prompt delivery and good price from Mountain Dog

Thanks for your review James! The extra poles are used to provide further support to the pooch pouch, connecting to the loops on the floor of the backpack and the loops that are hidden behind the seam of the fabric wall facing the dog owner. I hope this helps and thanks for shopping with us!

So pleased with our purchase, its given a new dimension to our Lakeland holidays with a 14 year Border Terrier, who still wants to be out and about in the mountains, but his elderly legs have other ideas. Its very comfortable to wear, lots of adjustability in all the straps and is the spec of a good quality rucksack. Alf was a little dubious to begin with, but with lots of rewards, he soon saw the benefit and has relaxed into his new way to travel in style!!

Thank you for the review. Doggos just like Alf do need introducing to these packs slowly but once they get it we have a great deal of success. So pleased Alf is now super mobile he is travelling in style for sure!

Looks great and seems to made from good quality, durable materials. Two slightly negative points however. Firstly, the sternum strap is more like a neck strap (both for me at 5'11" and my partner at 5'7") which makes things quite uncomfortable. It's not a deal breaker but I was hoping to use the bag to cycle but don't think it will have sufficient stability without the strap done up. Secondly is that the leather straps for securing the canvas lad when rolled are too long and so within a few minutes the hooks slide out of the hoops and the lid unrolls. Neither are deal breakers but both are annoying enough that I probably wouldn't go for this model next time.
