This is my 1st Love Brewing and I’m over the moon with the results. I didn’t add very much of the sweetener and I’m glad I didn’t. I had it under the stairs for about two weeks in my brewing bucket at about 19 degrees waiting for it to the right gravity and was ready for drinking in about a week after bottling. This is not the 1st cider kit I have made, but is better than any other cider kit I have ever made. I’m currently watching with anticipation Murv’s stout, another Beer Works brew, and my wish list is getting longer. The videos are brilliant, thanks Richard.

I made a batch that I made 2 changes to; firstly, I swapped out some 10% of the brewing sugar supplied for pure maple sugar that friends in Vermont, USA, sent me and secondly, I used carb drops when bottling rather than the supplied bottling sugar, however these are two minor changes in my opinion. The result was fabulous, as I believe it would have been had I followed the kit faithfully. Finally, and for personal choice, I did not add the sweetener; I tried it and it tasted chemically so omitted it. The result is a cracking cider that tasted great a week after bottling. 4 weeks after bottling I can't leave it alone, and the consensus of opinion of those who have tried it is 100% positive. Definitely going to buy again... in fact... just have!

This is the first cider kit we bought and it exceeded expectations. We forgot to put the little sachet of extra apple flavour in at the end but it still turned out beautifully. Everyone who has tried it loves it, and my sister in law actually prefers it to some of the brand cider. It came out at 7% so it's definitely not a drink all evening kind of cider. I've now bought the elderflower cider to try next!

The finished cider is lovely! Its worth the additional couple of pounds to get 40 pints of superb cider. Mine ended up at 8% (nothing additional added) so it packs a punch and is in no way a session drink and will last me a long time. I'd recommend leaving the cider in the FV for 2 weeks to ensure it's completely finished doing whatever it wants to do, as mine was giving off an rotten egg smell (contacted Richard and this is normal for cider), but with a bit of time the smell dissipated and didn't transfer with the cider into the keg. I added half the sweetening sachet, which i would do next time as well as its come out nicely balanced.
