Eden Grove Cottage is a delightful 3-bedroom eco-friendly cottage nestled down and quaint courtyard, lined with established trees and shrubs, creating a peaceful attractive location.

Formally a stable block, the building has been converted into a surprisingly-large holiday home for up to six guests that comprise a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area.

Leading off the kitchen is the first of the two bathrooms with a walk-in shower and loo. Two steps lead down from the dining area into the snug living room with a wonderful log-burning stove to relax in front of after a day out exploring the local area.

The wooden staircase with handrail leads to the first-floor corridor with wooden floorboards and is flanked by the original red-stone wall that spans the length of the building. A lovely original feature from the buildings past.

Off the corridor are three equally-sized double bedrooms, each benefiting from large windows and vaulted ceilings. At the end of the corridor are the second bathroom comprising of a bath with shower over, basin, loo and heated towel rail. Nextdoor to the bathroom is the WC with loo and heated hand-towel rail.

Outside is a small patio with seating.

Location
Situated in Armathwaite, a picturesque village that spans both banks of the River Eden, you're within easy reach of Penrith and the Rheged Discovery Centre, Carlise City, Ullswater and the Ullswater Steamers and the northern reaches of the beautiful Eden Valley.

There is something for everyone locally; the village has two pubs, both serving great food, a post office and a traditional village shop. The local railway station (5-minutes walk from the cottage) is a stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and where today many old steam trains still wend their way through some of the finest countrysides in Britain

The River Eden is renowned for its excellent salmon fishing, plus walking, canoeing and climbing. Armathwaite Castle, by the river, is a four-storey Pele Tower, and the 15th Century Church has fine examples of stained glass windows.

The Eden Gorge, between Lazonby and Armathwaite, is one of Cumbria's best-kept secrets and is well worth exploring.

We loved the cottage, especially the kitchen, which gave us kitchen envy! Lovely village and the pub did great meals (huge portions) and the teens loved the dart board and pool room. Came Primarily to see family in Carlisle , but spent a nice day in Keswick despite the rain. Little courtyard in cottage Would be gorgeous in the summer and the neighbour was very friendly , with interesting crack. Lovely few days away . Would definitely recommend .

A perfect place as a base for visiting The Lakes or heading north to Scotland. The cottage is spotless and well-maintained by the owners. Perfectly located in a quiet village - so if you're after experiencing the silence and stillness of the countryside then this is an ideal place to stay. The rooms are spacious with comfy beds - so we were assured of good nights' sleep. The owners really care about the environment - solar PVs on the roof, free homemade honey and facilities available for easy recycling. Looking forward to our next stay.

Eden Cottages is a lovely little period cottage in a quiet courtyard in the centre of Armathwaite. Perfect for exploring the surrounding area with all we needed for our short break. Booking was simple and communication was clear. We would certainly consider staying here again.

Very comfortable stay. Fully equipped kitchen and starter kit provided upon arrival - tea, milk, sugar. Would recommend, we were a party of 5 adults and had plenty of space. Not ideal for children due to steps and steep staircase. Could have benefitted from a washing line even just to hang out towels to dry but cannot complain.

My wife, dogs and I have been coming to this area each Spring for around 10 years now and this cottage is the perfect base. It's clean, well-appointed and great value for money. The owners care about your stay and are easy to approach. The village is wonderful and has two very good pubs that do food as well as a great independent shop. Can't wait to visit again.
