Eden Grove Cottage is a delightful 3-bedroom eco-friendly cottage nestled down and quaint courtyard, lined with established trees and shrubs, creating a peaceful attractive location.

Formally a stable block, the building has been converted into a surprisingly-large holiday home for up to six guests that comprise a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area.

Leading off the kitchen is the first of the two bathrooms with a walk-in shower and loo. Two steps lead down from the dining area into the snug living room with a wonderful log-burning stove to relax in front of after a day out exploring the local area.

The wooden staircase with handrail leads to the first-floor corridor with wooden floorboards and is flanked by the original red-stone wall that spans the length of the building. A lovely original feature from the buildings past.

Off the corridor are three equally-sized double bedrooms, each benefiting from large windows and vaulted ceilings. At the end of the corridor are the second bathroom comprising of a bath with shower over, basin, loo and heated towel rail. Nextdoor to the bathroom is the WC with loo and heated hand-towel rail.

Outside is a small patio with seating.

Location
Situated in Armathwaite, a picturesque village that spans both banks of the River Eden, you're within easy reach of Penrith and the Rheged Discovery Centre, Carlise City, Ullswater and the Ullswater Steamers and the northern reaches of the beautiful Eden Valley.

There is something for everyone locally; the village has two pubs, both serving great food, a post office and a traditional village shop. The local railway station (5-minutes walk from the cottage) is a stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, which is one of the most beautiful railway journeys in Britain, and where today many old steam trains still wend their way through some of the finest countrysides in Britain

The River Eden is renowned for its excellent salmon fishing, plus walking, canoeing and climbing. Armathwaite Castle, by the river, is a four-storey Pele Tower, and the 15th Century Church has fine examples of stained glass windows.

The Eden Gorge, between Lazonby and Armathwaite, is one of Cumbria's best-kept secrets and is well worth exploring.

With beautiful countryside and lots of walks - riverside, forest and countryside - to go on, we keep returning because we love it so much. Eden Cottage is great and there is a lovely corner shop and two great pubs.

My wife and our 2 dogs visited for our 6th stay in early May 2022 and are already hoping to come again next spring. The only change is the owner of the property has changed but the transfer was seemless. The house is warm, cosy and safe. The front porch has been renovated giving it a more open feel. We love the village. The locals are friendly, 2 great pubs and a shop you can get most things from including firewood for the log burner. There's some fantastic walks straight from the house or you're only a 30 minute drive from The North Lakes. I knocked the review down a point as we had no access to the laundry room this year and we like to travel light so having that in the past was a blessing. This was fed back at the time. The new owners are great to deal with and answer any queries promptly. We hope they let us stay next year.

I just wanted to say if your thinking of staying at 2 Eden cottage , then do it ! We had such a lovely stay at Eden courage , we have had the best week , the cottage is well equipped and we enjoyed cooking (even used the slow cooker ) on a number of nights, and the kitchen is a dream , we spent a lot of time round the table eating , drinking and chatting , a total change from day to day life . The log burner was welcomed at night , as it was a bit chilly , and unlike some places we have stayed , the beds were very comfortable. the local shop was so good , and very well stocked , and we did enjoy a few drinks in the local pub. our favourite day was a walk along the river , it was amazing , so it’s safe to say this little cottage is a little gem , and we will most definitely be back x

Amazing scenery. there are 2 pubs both serving good fare ,oh, and ale, and then there is the river for a stroll. the cottage ,we ,found to be comfortable the kitchen as everything needed. there is a downstairs shower / toilet, and a lovely lounge with a log burner ,thereis a telly but we used the games or read . the bedrooms are spacious doubles our room was nicely decorated and the bed .comfortable, we slept well too. the upstairs bathroom is good ,and there is a seperate loo which we all found very handy. The cottage was very clean, tidy and peacefull. Outside is a sunny little courtyard with interesting planting, the neighbours are welcoming and friendly. My extended family and I (4 adults, 2 children, 2 dogs, and 1 baby) stayed here for a 6 night break in the Lake District. The cottage was very well equipped, with everything you could need in the kitchen and a travel cot, high chair, and baby gates available on request. The bedrooms were cosy but had everything you needed and the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms and extra WC upstairs were great for a family with children. We parked 2 minutes from the property, which was no problem, and had some lovely dog walks by the river to start each day. The location was close to Penrith and Carlisle, and not far from the rest of the Lakes. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

We've just returned from a fantastic family break at 2 Eden Grove Cottages. With a welcome pack that included locally produced honey and fuel for the log burner, we found the cottage extremely well equipped and clean. Easily accommodating our large family and hound thanks to the 3 double bedrooms, yet with a cozy feel due to the log burner in the lounge and plenty of superb features such as exposed beams and stonework. Plenty of good clear instructions helped us get to grips with the heating, water and log burner. The cottage boasts a bathroom, shower room and separate toilet (which was a godsend....kids!). A great location, just 5 minutes walk to the railway station which is on the Settle to Carlisle line and only a short walk to the well stocked local shop / post office and local pubs. We only had a short stay but will absolutely be back in the Summer to enjoy more time at the cottage, fully explore the area and get plenty of walking in. By the way the honey was amazing!
