The cottage is a comfortable hideaway or base, warm, with a real fire, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen and plenty of downstairs space. The view from the kitchen and two double bedrooms towards mountains is delightful (when clouds allow!). The garden is large enough for kids to play ball games, the area is peaceful. The view from the rear sitting room has changed slightly with the addition of a new build house (not yet complete at the time of our stay). We all enjoyed our relaxing stay here. Excellent value too.

Beautiful house, extremely comfortable with everything that you could need for your break. Lovely card and bottle of champagne left for us to help celebrate our golden wedding which was a lovely touch. Must also mention Herdwick cottages for all their help after we had our original cottage cancelled at the last minute by another cottage company Herdwick cottages helped us sort out quickly this issue.

Lovely week in Garth Cottage with three generations of our family. We stay in the Lake District regularly and this rental was the cleanest we have stayed in. Well equipped. Lots of space, even for the four cars with us. We were particularly warm and comfortable in the cottage as Storm Debi raged around us. Log fire was burning and evening meal cooked in the Aga whilst there was a power cut. (Emergency lighting kicked in during power cut, we were impressed). There was a very practical welcome basket and enough wood etc for our first fire which was a bonus. We walking into Bowness several times with our 3 year old grandson, we used the small lanes rather than the main road as the footpath runs out. Although no footpath on the small lanes there was no traffic either. Contact with staff at Herwick was very pleasant too. Fabulous place, definitely 5 star.

We had a wonderful time at Garth cottage celebrating our dad's 70th birthday. We arrived to find it beautifully decorated, perfectly clean and spacious! The owners had thought of everything from cooking oil to dog biscuits. The dogs enjoyed running around and sniffing in the large garden while the humans struggled to choose which of the comfortable couches to sit on! The cottage itself had beautiful views of the local hills and it is very close to bowness. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we loved it!
