The Location
Situated within the Lake District National Park, High Gregg Hall Farm in Underbarrow is just 15-minutes drive from Windermere and 10-minutes from Kendal. A 5-minute walk away is the popular Black Labrador Pub, which offers fantastic food and a great choice of ales.

Underbarrow is a small village situated 3-miles west of Kendal and 6-miles from Bowness-on-Windermere, where you can hop onboard one of the Windermere Cruise Boats to Lakeside or Ambleside. There are several lovely walks from the doorstep. One of the more popular is Scout Scar, which offers breathtaking views over the Lyth Valley and Morecambe Bay or the quiet roads are fantastic for cycling into Windermere beyond.

Cute shepherds hut; well cleaned and maintained. Welcome package of chocolates and food was a lovely touch and we really enjoyed the local pub which was a short walk away. It was easy to check-in and beautiful views on the farm where there is a few similar shepherds hut next door. Quite expensive considering it is a tiny shepherds hut and we did have some issues with flies when we walked in. However, all in all great stay and would recommend!

We had a really good stay! The hut is super cosy and has everything you need for a lovely stay. The location was good too with things to do and shops/food places not too far away. Also super close to the lake which has a lot of activities. Thank you to the host too who was very lovely and left us some nice treats :)

We loved this shepherd's hut! Everything you need is here for a very peaceful few days with nothing but the cows in the fields for company. Welcome gifts were lovely (homemade biscuits, chocolates, an ale and a little bottle of prosecco). Deb was great, coming to say hi on our first day and making us feel very welcome. Beautiful countryside, what an amazing part of the country!

What a gorgeous place, we were very happy with our stay on the farm. The peace and quiet, cows strolling past in the morning and cosy interior made it a really cute, secluded get away for myself and my partner. Far away from the busy towns/villages but convenient enough to travel around.

Positives - great and comfortable hut with all the amenities you need inside. Hot shower, log burner, hob kettle and comfortable bed. Beautiful views over the farm and fields. Great location for walks, local pubs The wild boar especially which was only 10min drive. The black Labrador was 5 mins walk but closed whilst we were there. Negatives - no response from the host on a number of occasions when we needed to ask question? Felt it would have been nice if a little more was done to the outdoor area to make it more comfortable, especially for £180 per night (August) felt it was slightly over priced. However we did enjoy our.

We had a great stay here at this beautiful hut/cabin. The hut is placed on a lovely farm and is well-situated with quick access to nearby towns and lakes. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to others!
