Perched on the hillside of a working farm, the Rooster Hut is a large Shepherds Hut with mains electricity and plumbed in facilities plus stunning views overlooking Underbarrow and further to Scout Scar. The Location
Situated within the Lake District National Park, High Gregg Hall Farm in Underbarrow is just 15-minutes drive from Windermere and 10-minutes from Kendal. A 5-minute walk away is the popular Black Labrador Pub, which offers fantastic food and a great choice of ales.

Underbarrow is a small village situated 3-miles west of Kendal and 6-miles from Bowness-on-Windermere, where you can hop onboard one of the Windermere Cruise Boats to Lakeside or Ambleside. Locally you have two pubs, The Black Labrador and The Punch Bowl at Crossthwaite, offering excellent food and a choice of Ales. If you are attending a wedding at Paddock Barn Wedding Venue in Underbarrow, this is also a fantastic accommodation option.

There are several lovely walks from the doorstep. One of the more popular is Scout Scar, which offers breathtaking views over the Lyth Valley and Morecambe Bay or the quiet roads are fantastic for cycling into Windermere beyond.

Fantastic setting and would highly recommend. Only thing I would change is add a gate to the gap so we wouldn't need to keep the dog tied up.

We absolutely loved our stay here - it is such a cute hut/cabin to stay in and is really cosy. The surrounding farm really also adds to the charm of the place. Would highly recommend!

A great little cosy cabin with just about everything you could possibly need for a few nights away in a peaceful picturesque setting. It was great watching the cattle pass by the adjacent track of a morning and evening and watching the sheep with their young lambs on the nearby hillside. Nice that bedding and towels were provided, and a lovely touch that the host’s welcome pack included bread, milk and homemade biscuits amongst a few other little treats. This was the first time we had taken our puppy somewhere overnight and it was dog friendly, with a nearby dog friendly pub too. Depending on your mobile network provider you may or may not get any signal - I had signal the whole time but my partner didn’t get any.

We were surprised to find lots and lots of little treats included for us to use in the hut. From a little bottle of bubbly to chocolates to home made biscuits. The location is great, lovely and quiet with a wonderful local pub. It was great to have our own little shower and toilet, it’s really well equipped for ‘glamping’ it’s more like a mini hotel room. Thanks for a great stay!

Every little thing has been thought of at rooster hut! Its got all you want for a lovely break, v peaceful, great views, comfy bed with log burner and a v well equipped kitchen area, and v clean and airy. Lovely touches from Deb including her delicious home made biscuits:) although this is dog friendly, we actually had a break without ours and they stayed in nearby kennels however they would have also loved a stay at rooster hut with its lovely patio and garden area. Loved the amount of light the hut had with its various windows but was also v private at the same time. Ideal location for exploring kendal and windermere areas, and great pubs locally. Can highly recommend and we would definitely return here!

Love this small but perfectly formed place to stay. Deb the owner goes the extra mile and provides lots of little extras including some home made biscuits. Set on a working farm it’s a great place to explore the area and with the only noise being the farm animals and the local wildlife. Loved the place and can’t wait to come back
