A lovely cosy lodge, set in its own spacious garden area away from other lodges. Quiet, beautiful site with great walks direct from the door.

Great location and has everything you need will stay here again next time I visit the lakes cant fault the lodge at all was perfect for us. Nice old pub hotel woth pool table short but steep walk the pool was great with table tennis even better though if they put a pool table in there and turned down the heating or allowed the doors to be opened as was like a sauna in there. Recommend a little walk up the hill from the lodge through the gate and turn left to the top for amazing views. The lodge is right at the top of the site follow the road to the carpark then do a left its very steep though and the road up to it from Skelwith is steep and tight. Other nice walks from the pub to the waterfall along the river and is perfectly located to explore the whole area. Kitchen had everything you need and had nice comfy beds and other things like dvds etc, bathroom was lovely just needs the door handle looking at was a bit sticky kept catching just a heads up. There's a washing machine and drier that takes pound coins by the pool area which was handy. Only thing that could improve it would be WiFi as the mobile data signal is really bad but gets better up the hill if needed. Thanks for a lovely week will be back soon hopefully.

We've just had a lovely week, the lodge was plenty big enough for the 5 of us and 2 large dogs and had almost enything you could need (no mop and bucket which would have made getting rid of muddy paw prints easier). The gentleman on site was very friendly and helpful as were a couple of the neighbours. There are plenty of walks right from your door step and our 3 girl's visited the on site pool at least once a day. A week wasn't long enough and we will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Styhead tarn lodge. It is a stunning location, possibly the nicest position at Naeum Crag. It felt spacious yet cosy and had everything we needed. The communication from Herdwick Cottages was excellent and would recommend. The only issue we had was that we were surprised the small deck area was very dirty on arrival. Admittedly we didn’t really use it during the stay and it would inevitably get dirty with it being outside but it gave the impression that the place hasn’t yet been cleaned. Not a problem but just a bit odd when it would have taken 5 minutes to give it a quick wipe. Once inside the place looked immaculately clean but it was surprising that there was a real foisty damp smell to the place. Again it wasn’t a major problem as we opened all of the windows and it soon went. I think I discovered why that was because I had reason to use the red Henry type hoover during the stay and it has an awful smell to it when used. We had this problem with our own hoover in the past. Basically the hoover needs a clean as otherwise it leaves the rooms smelling awful after each hoover. This isn’t something that was worth complaining about during the stay and I’d 100% stay again as it was a delightful place, but just something to note if that’s something that would bother the owners. It might be that since we were accommodated in arriving an hour early that there wasn’t as much time to air the place so perhaps not a regular problem but I would recommend giving the hoover an internal clean anyway.

The site overall is a nice quiet, well kept site providing a good base to explore The Lakes. There are some lovely walks directly from the door, and beautiful wildlife at the door. There are a couple of nice pubs within walking distance. The accommodation was a good three star standard - basic, but clean and reasonably well equipped. The property would benefit from a toaster, and some better heating options as it was very cold. Additionally, the shower was temperamental and fluctuated between boiling hot and cold, and therefore needs a warning sign to prevent scalding. The pool on site is so small it isn’t really worth mentioning. We had a g great stay, but I wouldn’t revisit.

An amazing location, beautiful surroundings and the cabin itself was fantastic. Having your own little private garden area was great.

We had a lovely stay at Styhead Tarn Lodge. It was very well equipped and spacious with absolutely amazing outdoor private space. It's tucked away right at the top of the estate so you have almost complete privacy. The customer service via email we received before and during our stay was absolutely outstanding - 10/10!
