The Property

Styhead Tarn is a fully-equipped 3-bedroom Lodge situated on a private holiday park in the heart of Lake District National Park with communal leisure facilities and surrounded by natural woodland. From the Park is a superb choice of walking paths including routes to Skelwith Bridge and the Talbot Pub, Elterwater and the Britannia Inn, Grasmere, Ambleside and Chaple Stile.

The elevated position of the holiday lodge means that you have a quiet private space, not overlooked by any of the other holiday-makers. The large south-facing outdoor area with wooden furniture benefits from views over the estate and onto Black Fell and Park Fell. The communal leisure complex, use of which is included in the hire, offers an indoor heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna and a table-tennis table which makes it perfect for families looking for hot tub holidays in the Lake District.

I would recommend to the owner of this beautiful lodge to do some upgrades. Few things are to be mentioned, toilet leaking, shower door is not sealed properly and water goes through, toilet is not flashing properly and it takes too long to fill up the tank so you can flash again, carpet in the room are a bit smelly and the entire lodge needs a very good clean. Overall, we enjoyed the stay , the location is wonderful and I have given 5 stars with the confidence that those little things will be rectified by the owner

We stayed for a long weekend at the beginning of September and the lodge was beautifully clean, in a perfect location and exactly as described. Would definitely recommend!

Not suitable for 6 adults , description of beds should be more clear . Really suitable for two adult and two small kids .The double bed is uncomfortable for two adults , the bunk beds are only for toddlers , the two single beds for under 10 years . The toilet cistern took forever to refill so constant queues for bathroom .

Thank you for the feedback. The single beds (Twin Room) you mention in your review as not suitable for adults, the beds are 6ft 3inch long this is a standard Single bed length for adults and children alike. The lodge is suitable for 4 plus 2 children. I believe that we did contact you to confirm the bed configuration. Regarding the toilet, we will have maintenance have a look at it. Please note that the listing on Airbnb states in the: In "Other things to note" section - The bunk beds are suitable for children only.

We spent a week at the lodge. Truly a beautiful location with amazing views and walks. The lodge is well kitted out and the beds have good mattresses so with the walking we slept well! Just a warning Vodafone coverage is 3G one bar inside - you can just about surf but forget hot spotting. But if you walk up to the top of the car park 4g kicks in fine so you can download and watch offline. One tip you can turn left out of the park then right at next junction to get to Ambleside avoiding the steep narrow hill road entrance.
