Church View Cottage is a wonderful, family-friendly and dog-friendly self-catering cottage within walking distance of Kendal Town Centre and its many shops, restaurants and bars, museums and the Brewery Arts Centre. The traditional stone terraced cottage overlooks St George’s Parish Church and diagonally onto Gooseholme park and the River Kent.

The cottage is conveniently close to Kendal Train Station and Bus Station with links to Windermere, Ambleside and further afield to Keswick as well as London, Manchester and Scotland via Oxenholme Station on the West Coast mainline, which makes it perfect for walkers who wish to explore the Lakes or Fells.

The Cottage includes:

Ground Floor

Living room with parquet flooring, sofa and a settee, wall-mounted TV and decorative fireplace. View to the front and onto St George’s Parish Church.
Kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, gas hob and two electric ovens, microwave, toaster and kettle.
Dining room with full-width fold-back doors and a dining table seating up to six guests.
Utility room with washing machine and separate WC.
Small rear yard with bin store.

First Floor

Family bathroom with free-standing roll-top bath, a separate walk-in shower with two shower heads, WC and basin.
Bedroom 1 - Double bedroom with decorative fireplace, original wooden flooring, window seat with views of the Church.

Second Floor

Bedroom 2 - Bunk beds, suitable for children, with views to the rear and a sky-light window, original exposed wooden beams.
Bedroom 3 - Double bedroom with vaulted ceiling exposing the original wooden beams. Views of the Church and diagonally onto Gooseholme Park. A separate trundle bed that sleeps up to two children.

Things To Note:

Church View self-catering cottage is an old building, and with many buildings of its time, the stairs are narrower and slightly steeper than current standards which may not be suitable for physically disabled guests or small children.
Free street parking is available to the front and surrounding streets.
The fireplaces, whilst original features, are no longer operational.

We had another lovely stay at Church Cottage. The location is perfect and the cottage is ver well equipped. Parking is a bit difficult and better seating in the lounge would be better for sitting together in the evening but we were out and about so it didn't really matter.

This is a very pretty little cottage with easy access to Kendal centre. Facilities and appliances are plentiful. However, the house could benefit from a deep clean, floors were filthy, mirrors grey and dull, work surfaces dusty, we did hoover, clean and sweep the yard and terrace ourselves which helped but it wasn’t our job to do this. The front terrace would benefit from pruning back and a jet wash.

Thank you for your four stars, and am glad that you thought Church View was a pretty cottage with easy access to Kendal. Regarding your comments on cleaning and tidying up the outside terrace and yard, I can assure you that we will take care of this immediately.

My only complaint would have liked to have seen a dryer along with the washer they could be stackable to save space

Cottage in good location for Kendal. Kitchen and dining area nicely done and well equipped. It is a property full of character that could be somethung special and needs a lot of tlc as lacks ambience and not particularly comfortable. Finishing touches to bring it to life are missing. Rubbish on display from conservatory windows had not been collected/removed. Bathroom door handle broken. Whilst tea and coffee are provided most places ive stayed in recently provide milk, a loaf and butter with jam/marmalade to get travellers started. Lots of 'bad' touching up of paintwork whuch make it look shabby. Lampshades missing on landing and some are tirrd and stained.

We have stayed at Church View several times and hope to visit again. It is a perfect base for a family break in the Lake District, easy access to all the activities the area has to offer with the convenience of Kendal on your doorstep. We love the sense community in this little corner of town, not to mention the charming views and quirkiness of the cottage. Gooseholme is perfect for both the children and the dog and makes for a very relaxing time all round. Thank you
