1970s Original Clothkits® Rag Doll Sewing Kit, Kitty Blue Reviews

4.8 Rating 36 Reviews
A little disappointed with this. I found the legs and arms, particularly the arms, twisted when you matched up the watchstrap and the shoe strap on the legs. Also the neck area was difficult to sew due to the layers of arms, body and neckk reinforcement. My machine did not like it. Also I wish there had been clearer instructions as to where to position the arms because I think that would have helped. My sewing machine - a very high end one - does not like these fiddly seams even though I did use a zipper foot for some. I think I might have overstuffed the arms which exacerbated these problems but although I have been sewing for nearly 50 years and make most of my own clothes I had not done anything like this. I would not say it was suitable for novices. Not attmepted the clothes yet but am hoping that will be easier even though the dungaree instructions look a bit challenging.

Not too difficult to make. Like the size and range of clothes.

I haven't made my kit up yet but know it will be good as I first made one for my daughter in the early 1980's. My son had a Kit doll which he loved and is still around very much patched up. The children's dolls were called Henry and Henrietta. This new one will be for my son's first child.

I love this doll, I have made one over the years for my daughter, and then 4 grand-daughters, I cannot believe you can still buy it. Thankyou, Clothkits!

This is the fourth Kitty doll I’ve made - the first one in 1980! My three granddaughters love them, and I’m gearing up to make two more similar ones any time soon. I would love to see more colourways so that none of the five match. The only tricky thing in the pattern is the neck, but that done, it’s very straightforward.
