The sensation of tingling or stinging is common when applying products containing exfoliating acids like AHAs (such as glycolic acid) and BHAs (like salicylic acid). This tingling sensation is typically mild and should diminish after a few minutes of application. It is considered normal as the acids work to exfoliate the skin and may cause a temporary reaction. However, if the tingling is accompanied by signs of irritation like redness, inflammation, or discomfort lasting more than 30 minutes to an hour, it may indicate that the product is too harsh for your skin and you should consider adjusting your skincare routine.
