“Incredibly disappointing. Be prepared to spend at least another £80 per night if you want drinks and vegetables/ potatoes with your choice of main meal. Unless you want non meat products on sourdough for breakfast, or bratwurst and beans on fried bread, be prepared to pay extra at £5 per side order. Full English breakfast £9 supplement and carton orange juice is served in a small glass as a side order at £5. The evening menu had minor changes, be careful, read it through! During our 2 night stay, the main change on the menu, an additional starter, was out of stock! Our wine was opened before being brought to the table, a wrong main meal was served to the table, steaks were very under cooked for some of our party despite requesting them be cooked well done. The rooms are adequate although I've had more comfortable beds at travel lodges. Our shower only had a super soaker/ rainmaker shower head, no provision of shower caps for people wanting to keep their hair dry! I don't generally believe trust pilot reviews, having been to Rudloe Arms Hotel, I can only agree with the poor trust pilot reviews on this place. Very disappointing stay, riding high on the aged reputation of Marco Pierre White and all that he achieved as a young and extraordinary chef.”

“Really enjoyed ourselves, hotel bizarre but wonderful, bedroom fantastic but no ventilation, patio door but on ground floor so wildlife of which there was plenty could get in, menu not changed and only 3 choices, but would go back again.”

“The room was very clean and surrounding were lovely. However very noisy. Unfortunately, the people next to us had a broken door lock and they spent ages trying to unlock it and talking about. Then every time someone shut a door you heard that too. The restaurant again looks lovely, but felt like a school dinner hall. We were unable to have a conversation as it was quite loud. I usually LOVE Marco's restaurant food, but I was not very impressed this time. I had duck pate which was lovely, the bread was so hard and tastless. The gnocchi was not home made. The dessert was banana bread which was very dry and hard to chew. The staff were very attentive,but kept brushing the massive plants on the table as they passed, they then sprung back near my partner. We were placed by the door to the garden and it was a little chilly as the door was wide open. The cocktail was a nice touch. It was a cheap place to stay for a couple of nights. Bus stop to Bath just down the drive, so convenient. If you want a quirky night's stay it is great.”

“This is an amazing deal for an amazing hotel. The reviews are very mixed on Trip Advisor, people eother love it or hate it - 5 star or 1 star reviews. The main house, bar and restaurant are beautifuland quirky, very atmospheric. The adjoining more modern Dower House has wonderful large rooms with really comfy beds, large TVs and rainfall showers, very comfortable. The welcome cocktail is a bonus, the dinner and breakfast amazing value once included in the price. For those people who say they would rather stay at a Premier Inn - good luck to them, this place is definitely not for them. We have been 3 times and will deinfitely return”

“We got a wowcher deal - one night dinner, hotel and breakfast. £199 , good value overall. We were disappointed that the “free cocktail” was limited to gin , as neither of us like gin. The dinner was very nice, as expected. We both had filet steak which was included iin our ‘deal’ but again we were a little surprised to learn that we had to pay £5 each for side dishes. However, to be fair, each side served 2 easily. The hotel was a mixture of old fashioned and intriguing- full of Marco’s personal arty collections so lots to see and thought provoking. Our room was large, clean and comfortable with lovely full Louvre window door that opened to the outdoors and overlooked woodland area. Breakfast choices were reasonable and tasty but if you wanted a full English, this incurred a £7.50 surcharge. Overall, our experience was a good one but we doubt if we’d return. The £250 returnable deposit that the hotel imposed seemed very unreasonable!”
