It keeps the squirrels and pigeons at bay and out of the garden without discouraging any of the small birds which makes the bird food last far longer. I wish I'd bought it before.

robust wide feeder, the best one I have got. I wanted to make sure that birds were safe (from my cats) inside the cage and it is brilliant. I havn't seen the squirrel either since installing it. He manages to find a way to eat with the other cheap caged feeders. I will buy another one when the other cheap one breaks down.

The squirrels were defeated but sadly not the jackdaws

Sadly these feeders are not Jackdaw, crow or squirrel proof. See video I have submitted of Jackdaw feeding on fat balls within this feeder.

Having bought three (2 x seed, 1 x fat ball) I'd like to rate them higher than three, however....... They look good and are effective to a point. They could do with being starling-proof. This would mean a redesign, however, to stop the starlings from being able to reach in. One of the plastic perches has broken off already; both the inner and outer lids are not the easiest to remove (I have no dexterity issues!) and the metal is about as thin as it could be. This means all aspects of the fastening 'mechanism' is already prone to losing shape and I fear will break far too easily in time. I'd rather pay a little more (and they're not exactly cheap) for something a little more sturdy.
