“The Merlin Lombard are fantastic! Superb manufacturing quality. They're thicker than I anticipated but that's a nice surprise for winter. They are very soft to wear but feel incredibly strong material wise. I could have even taken them in a smaller size. To me they feel generously proportioned (I bought a 38 but could have gone 36 - I am 6ft, 15 st). Overall a magnificent pair of trousers. The protectors are only ever so slightly noticeable and a bit on the looser end but that could be down to the size. Urban Rider are brilliant in terms of speed! Ordered from Zurich, shipped same day and arrived within the same week.”

“This was my first exchange with Urban Rider (I needed to size down on the trousers. From 2XL to XL (so in the right direction at least)! I like Merlin. They do size up a bit large compared to others. I timed it badly over a bank holiday so it took longer than I had hoped but that couldn’t be helped and I even had some communication with them over the weekend when I sent a brief message following up - I was worried about the stock on these trousers. A* service as usual. The trousers are great. They are comfy and oddly neither too hot or cold and I really like them. I haven’t tested them in heavy rain but so far they have impressed me by keeping me dry. I’ll be upgrading the pads in due course, I don’t see the point in not opting for the best AA ratings when ghost armour is so good now but again, that’s personal preference. My only criticism is that owning the olive Edale jacket and combined with the olive trousers, it’s a bit matchy-matchy (something I generally like to avoid). I’ll just have to get another jacket in black at some point I guess!! Ha. However, this is entirely up to me and not with any deduction.”

“I bought these after deciding I wanted something a little more winter proof than a pair of protective jeans. I ordered size small as I am normally a 30" waste but they wouldn't go near me so Urban Rider sorted an exchange for the next size up. Now I've got a size that fit me they are great, super comfy and look great on my Thruxton without looking too "try hard". After seeing the quality from Merlin I liked them so much I decided to buy a jacket as well. Great service from Urban Rider and super quality and amazing value for money from Merlin.”

“Great fit, totally waterproof over 2,000 miles of awful weather. A good choice for adventure riding, especially in colder weather. They are very warm, so not ideal for summer riding.”

“Very well made and very comfortable, however the lack of belt loops at the front does make it difficult to keep them snug, and also, the wax has leeched out of the trousers and all over the saddle of my bike. I am sure it will wash off, I am just a little surprised this happened.”

“Really nice trousers, keep out the elements very well. Some people say they are too low on the rise but zipping them to my leather jacket worked a treat. I range between a 36-38 so bought the XXL as recommended but found these were way too generous and the crotch very low so exchanged for the XL and whilst a little snug on the thighs are very comfortable.”

“Is a good quality product. Am happy with the warmth and security it provides me. Shame that the pants are a bit loose (despite me selecting the correct size), otherwise would have given it a higher rating”

“Really nice looking trousers. Well made, love the olive colour. Brought them for my other half who's 6 foot 2, he really liked them but they were way too short. Such a shame they only do them in regular length. Sadly had to return them because of this. Apart from that, great pair of riding jeans.”
