Great quality, look strong and look like they will serve very well, only issue is they come up very small in size. I still think they are worth the price tag but consider a bigger size to normal.

Come up a little on the small side on the waist, but a great looking functional bit of kit

I am a 33/34 and went for XL which fit fine. They are pretty low rise compared to other riding trousers I have and the lack of front belt loops makes no sense. Also the coating seems to rub off on my saddle. Always an oily patch when one dismounts. But they are warm and waterproof, look better than most textile trousers as well. Merlin build quality excellent as always.

Ordered Sunday. Dispatched Monday. Arrived Tuesday. Riding by Wednesday. Usual excellent service. Trousers are sized exactly as the advice. They have an expanding section at the waist with a storm flap but close to exact measurement with a zip, Velcro and clip. 36” waist and 34” leg. Ordered an XL and sizing is great. Trousers have a jeans profile not like a usual textile trouser wider style. The material is waxed but not oily or tacky to touch. They do have a weight to them but not overly bulky. The style is old school scrambler / touring type. Goes really well with Merlin Axe shirt and Merlin Yoxall jacket. Inner liner is quilted but not overly thick. With the XL I managed to get a pair of slim jeans on underneath for a short commute. With the quilted section of the liner it is easy to slip leg in. The upper section is quilted and the thigh downwards is mesh. The ghost armour is incredibly thin and doesn’t cut at all. Overall very good fit with boots. Feel comfortable on and if they match the Yoxall for weather protection they will take anything. Recommend

As some reviews have said, watch out for sizing. Normally I fit a 32" waist in trousers but had to order the XL in the end. While they are nice and thick and keep your legs warm in the dry, these trousers are not waterproof. I had them since the winter but only got around to properly trying them in the rain in the summer. Set off in light rain and soon felt a little damp on the top of my thighs. Then later riding in a very heavy shower for about 15 mins my legs were properly damp. Which in winter would also = cold. For a pair of trousers that are fairly substantial and heavy, supposedly with a waterproof membrane, I am disappointed. I wish I had tried them in the rain sooner because I probably would have sent them back saying they do not fit the description.

I ordered them to match my merlin jacket size: I usually wear 50 BMW, 32 Klim, 34/36 Fuel and 33 normal jeans. I ordered a L and no way I can wear it. good on legs too tight on waist. I m not a big fan of greasy fabric but what disappointed me was the inner layer that is not removable. So entirely winter pants. price; 250 for merlin trousers (when jacket is on 200-230) is too much I have returned them.

Love the look of these trousers. Very warm and dry on long wet rides. Little bit bulky off the bike but nothing compared to traditional adventure pants. My only gripe is the sizing. Im 6ft, 33 waist so opted for the large. They are a bit too short in the leg and a little too large on the waist. Would be nice to have an adjustable wast buckle as they are quite heavy and if they dont fit perfectly they fall down low.

Excellent service from Urban Rider. Their gear reviews are the best on the Web. The Merlin Lombard wax trousers are comfortable to wear and are not overly bulky. I am still waiting to test how waterproof they are. The only issue I note so far is the lack of belt loops at the front either side of the zipper - seems a bit of a oversight
