We made the decision to redevelop this blend following feedback from our consumers. Our new recipe has greater flavour delivery and is closer in taste to our best selling caffeinated Earl Grey tea, resulting in a cuppa that is stronger and has a fuller depth of flavour and colour; we don’t think choosing the decaffeinated options should mean you have to sacrifice flavour.
At Twinings, we’re invested in preserving the tastes of our iconic blends and will only carry out any changes following extensive taste testing by our Master Blenders. Our experts also work with consumer taste panels, and it’s only once a blend meets the high expectations of both our Master Blenders and our research groups, that it makes its way onto supermarket shelves.

“My wife swore by Twinings Early Grey Decaffeinated tea bags. The last batch of 4 boxes (part of Sainsburys order) are undrinkable - ridiculously strong flavour - now compost for garden (unused). Desperately looking for a new brand - shame on you Twinings - it wasn't broke so why fix it?”

“The new flavour (“great new taste”) is not great at all. Advertised as delicate, it is anything but delicate. Agree with the earlier comment, the new version is like builders tea. This used to be my favourite tea of all, sadly no more. I can only assume this is cheaper to make by using lower quality tea. I will NOT be buying this again.”
