“I have been drinking Twinings Earl Grey tea for over 35 years and have been drinking your decaff version for many many years. I don't drink anything else. Why have you changed it? It is now too strong and looks like normal tea, no longer the delicate taste with gorgeous aroma. Can you please bring back the old version? This supposed "great new taste" is dreadful. I will be looking around to buy a new decaf earl grey from a different manufacturer. I am very disappointed.”

Based on consumer feedback, we recently redeveloped this blend so that it had greater flavour delivery and was closer in taste to our best-selling caffeinated Earl Grey; we don’t think making the choice to have a decaffeinated tea should mean you have to sacrifice flavour.
As a result of this, we have made our Earl Grey Decaf blend stronger for more depth of flavour and colour. We also refreshed the pack artwork across our entire decaffeinated range to make them easier to identify on shelf.

“I have been drinking this tea for years, going out of my way to get twinning earl grey decaff above any other, but I had a new box this week and it's awful - it tastes exactly like non decaff earl grey, too strong and totally different. I can't drink this. Please bring back the original. If I could give this zero stars I would.”
“As others have said, the new recipe is utterly awful, tasting more like builders’ tea. Been drinking this exclusively for 30+ years but will now have to find an alternative brand. So sad when a product is updated beyond recognition. The original decaffeinated tea was delicious.
Those who wanted a stronger tea could easily buy from the vast range on offer.
Please reinstate the original blend. The new version doesn’t even rate one star!”
“I couldn’t understand why my tea tasted different. I thought I had used my husbands instead of my beloved earl grey. Threw out the batch I had just opened and tried another box. Just the same. Now I understand why. Twinnings have changed the tea. WHY? I am now looking around for another brand having used Twinings for many years. What a shame.”
“I have paid a premium price for this tea for 30 + years. It has been the best, I have loved it. But the new version falls way short of even the cheapest supermarket versions. So disappointed, please bring back the taste & smell that we loved. The new teabags make a tea that is way too strong and without that gorgeous aroma. It's a big " no " from me. Sainsburys own brand at £1.80 is much better.”
