“So disappointing. Lapsang was one of my favourite teas. Shame on twinnngs to produce this awful tea. If I could mark this with negatave stars it would score -5. I've thrown the entire box straight in the bin after just one sip. No flavour, tastes stale, and bitter!”
“I always drink Lapsang Souchong when visiting my parents. I came home for Christmas and had Distinctively Smokey for the first time and was horrified to find myself drinking what tasted like ashtray water. It is no comparison to the original subtle and complex smokey flavour. I tried various brewing times and dilutions to make it drinkable but was not able to get away from the harsh taste.”
“After 30 years of enjoying Twinings Lapsang Souchong I find it replaced with tea that tastes of boiled bleach and melted plastic, leaving a horrendous aftertaste. This is awful, how on Earth have you allowed this past quality control? I'm quite serious. Unless it's somehow a banned substance can you please double the price of your original Lapsang and bring it back.”
“As someone who loves smokey tea blends I tried this as I couldn't get Russian caravan tea. It is incredibly unpleasant with an overwhelming taste of creosote, binned the packet and therefore wasted my money.”
“Unfortunately not a patch on Lapsang which I enjoyed for 40 years. I’ve tried it in different strengths, with/without milk even. The taste is insipid with a chemical nose. Sorry. It’s an epic fail. Perhaps it will attract a new customer, but not in this household.”
