I bought a couple of these to play around with Meshtastic. Great fun, easy to setup and get going with the Meshtastic flasher. The basic kit seems to work quite well. I've managed to get some fairly good results (5.4km) from the standard antenna in central London.

The waveshare documentation and examples are terrible. I wish I'd looked a the other review before buying as I'd have avoided it. There should be (at minimum) some decent scanning and debugging examples included. Unless I can get some help from a forum member, this is effectively junk. For the record, my community has a hub about 500m away, that covers a 3 mile region. I've not been able to connect even within 100m, but the information provided isn't adequate to tell me if I have a config problem, the signal is too weak etc. Very disappointed so far.

The two stars are an indictment of Waveshare (the OEM) support and not The Pi Hut. The Pi Hut shipped very promptly and I received the module within a few days. The first obstacle was connecting the ipex antenna connector because it was positioned close up to a header and exceedingly difficult, for me and a friend, to connect. Be warned - don't fire up a LoRa sketch without the antenna plugged in otherwise the transmitter could burn out. (Same with all transmitters) I downloaded the "demo codes", added my own TTN app keys, compiled with VSCODE and uploaded to the pico. The code ran ok. I could see messages in my gateway console - but hey, the messages were using random keys not mine. I hunted high and low in the code to find out why but had to resort to Waveshare support, and waited for their reply of which there was none and a week has passed. That was my main reason for 2 stars - a warning. I have yet to try python with this device
