“Does what it says on the tin, good product - I have a birdbox camera running on a pi 4 24/7.
I used POE to reduce cabling problems and the position of the box is out of wifi range.
I initially used the board with the fan but it was too noisy and the fan was always on.”
“PoE works great, picks power up from the 4 pin PoE HAT, a nice and neat solution.
The only little niggle is that the board uses the 3 sets of pins on the end of the 40 pin connector, which I understand is required to actually power the Pi.
The board does allow for soldered connection to retain this power but it doesn't allow 40 pin HAT's to be stacked, to stack them you need to use extension pins on the power HAT.
Overall very happy with it.”
“Great solution to de-clutter your rack while still being able to use all GPIO pins. A bit more expensive than the Raspberry Pi Foundation's PoE HAT but definitely worth it as it retains what the Pi is normally used for: it's GPIOs. using stack headers with the 'standard' PoE HAT is more expensive and when using a RPi 3B+ this is definitely a better solution.”
“Completely silent. It's low profile is nice as well. Um.Now that I'm using PoE I'll never go back to USB-C. It's a bit pricey but that just shows what amazing value the Pi 4B is. I use the 8G version as my main desktop now. If only I didn't have to use HDMI. C'est la vie.”
“I have a cluster of 4 RPi4s in the cluster case. Adding the PoE board makes this much neater as you don't have to bring in multiple power supplies and associated cables. Used the no-fan version as the cluster case already has fans. Everything is super stable and just works...”
“I have 7 of these for each of my RPi 3B+ and 4B machines. They're a bit pricey when compared to the cost of the RPi, but they're completely silent and having such a large number of machines, it really does reduce the number of cables, power plugs and power outlets that I would otherwise need.
I've also tried the version with the fan but found that too noisy for my tastes. The fan version's noise is low, but noticable when the machine is on my desk next to my monitor. I do get an additional 10C drop in CPU temperature with the fan version but, for me, that's not enough to be willing to put up with the noise.”
