“Bought this with the retro gaming kit, as it was recommended on the article but it isn't compatible with the aluminium case that comes with the kit. Support were super helpful with processing a free return which was great. Was hoping for an answer or recommendation for the best case/heatsink for the retro gaming kit as most things recommend some type of heatsink.”
“This is by far the best case Ive bought for a Raspberry Pi. Its a heatsink and the Pi 4 runs hot and the heat sink is hot so it must be doing its job. I bought the black one because I thought it would look awesome (which it does) but not ideal if its in the sun as mine is. A light coloured version would be better. PS its also hot at night so its not just because its in the sunlight.
The case is solid and feels like you’ve got a quality and robust case. Once its assembled your Pi really feels nice.
Is it perfect? Almost but not quite. One issue is that I use mine with the Pi camera. You must get the cable in before you fit the case as you just cant access the connector otherwise. So disassembly will be required if i need to swap it out. I think the same can be said about the display connector. The other connects look accessible. Its a design compromise which is ok.
I use my current one with Octoprint and created a periscope that slots into the fins.
I will order another as Ive got several Pi 4. It is £5-£6 more expensive than a cheap case but so much better, really worth the money.”
“Got thermometer icon on screen with standard case during summer, no problem after this robust case - feels like 40-45C to the touch - easily cool enough with file transfers and full HD playing :)”
