“Just built my second HiFi streamer using a Rpi5, Touch display 2 and Raspberry Pi DAC Pro. The performance difference between the RPi4 and Rp5 is significant. Setup was so much easier with Rp5 as the Volumio software worked without issue. Previously with Rp4 there had been glitches and difficulty connecting WiFi with Rp4.
Performance with Rp5 is significantly better especially using the ap in my phone or laptop. Audio performance is fantastic and as good as some high end commercial units. I'm using a solid state hard drive and FLAC encoded files. I can also listen to radio from the UK and Europe.
The touchscreen is great for showing what is playing and for easy local control.
I can thoroughly recommend this setup as a very cost effective streaming solution.”

“I have previously used the RPi 4 and it is nice to have the upgrades found with the RPi 5 for additional functionality. In particular, I have found the active cooler to be a simple and low-profile way of providing cooling and have added an NVMe HAT which has allowed me to switch to using the SSD as the boot disk at significantly higher speed than the SD card and theoretically they are more a stable form of storage too.”
