“I did have an issue with the audio software (VLC) not working when I used NOOBS to install the Rasberrian OS. It produces a screen informing us of licencing and meta data matters, but just locks the whole thing up at this point. I had to kill the power. I researched it and found a "fix" for this online (a bit of faffing editing a config file using my laptop). Eventually, for other reasons, I re-flashed the card (using "Etcher") with the latest "Buster" version of the OS and so far that has been fine. As this seems to be a known issue with VLC out there in the Pi help community, I would bet that it has now been fixed on the latest offering of the Noobs -> Raberrian OS.”
“Having been given a present of a Hat I needed to update the operating system on my Raspberry Pi
I bought this because I was having trouble updating the operating system on my existing sd card which is a few years old and hadn't been updated since I created it with an image of Raspian.
The 'NOOBS' card installed without a problem and using a usb port I moved my personal files over from the old card. I now have a spare sd card.
My motives for purchasing this card were that I did not want to risk losing any data on the old card in creating an updated image (I remember that it was not that straightforward creating an image from a desktop pc.) and that this card wasn't that more expensive than a blank card.”
“Maybe I wasn't paying attention but, I put it in the slot, turned on the Pi and...... nada. So I re flashed it using the download from the Raspberry Pi website (using BaleenaEtcher) and off it went. So now I'm exploring all the other branches off this rabbit hole and flashing other distros to try out. (sticking with Twister OS for the time being).
This was a useful exercise that demonstrated to me how versatile the Raspberry Pi can be. Just stick another SD card in and you have a different personality.”
