“I bought both the Raspbian and XBMC preinstalled cards. After some time I got sound from the XBMC but still not a peep from the Raspbian. Something is not right with my setup for Raspbian also upgrading gives error, pipe broken at the instant when newer Perl version ought to be installed. The XBMC set at 'analog' gave sound output from my speaker equipped LCD-monitor. Tested several different sources and they worked at once. The Raspian needs more 'tweeking' I suppose.
