“Have been into electronics since I was around 4 (and now 50+ years later this hasn't changed). been playing with the Pi on and off for a while, and have a mobile robot platform that uses r/c servos modified for 365 degree rotation. for years I got about as far as I could with a PIC microcontroller (and a SPO256 speech synthesiser) to create a kind of robot cat that made itself home, and said stuff. Thought it was about time for an upgrade and bought a Pi zero (even if I did have to wait until release of a batch after an email from yourselves) and a SD card with "noobs" pre-installed. After a few weeks (give or take work and eldercare duties) I now have the zero on the robot platform, and thanks to "wiringPi2" can control both the servos properly with hardware PCM using BCM pins 18 and 13, and can even telnet into the thing whilst its running around using "putty" thanks to a £4 wireless dongle. Beats unplugging a pic for programming each time.
