Excellent, very quick, it is proving to be an impressive home cloud server. I am running the Pi 5 headless as there is no requirement for a desktop, the main software is Apache, mariadb and GeneWeb. Currently using a SSD for the boot media and storage, waiting now for an NVMe to PCIe adapter to become available to see how this affects overall speed and responsiveness. The Raspberry Pi team deserve to sell billions of the Pi 5.

Had to get one early to start experimenting - seeing if and how it works with Firefox, Kodi, LMS and my own amateur Python code - answer: all fine!

On first and second runs, the PI started and displayed a loading screen for around 5-10 seconds. On subsequent boots, the light turns green for a few seconds then turns red, plus nothing displays on screen. It also looks like the OS that was installed on the SD card is ruined, as I can reinstall the OS and it goes through the same cycle again (two short boots then nothing) This is with the official power cable, HDMI connector and the recommended SD card. This is apparently a common issue, and very disappointing.

A very easy purchase and a great piece of kit. A capable mini-pc, which is great for a range of projects.

Having only tried the PI 5 for a few hours I can already see the potential in the updated specs, Having the same footprint is amazing as it amazes me that something this powerful gets massive improvement year after year. Ignore the case in the image - forgot to order a Pi 5 case!

Still early days for the Pi 5 but experience was very painless. Chromium on the Pi5 using Raspberry Pi Os was very smooth and making use of the GPU. Ubuntu not quite as smooth with rendering in the software.

I might be wasting the full capabilities of the RPi5 because I'm running it headless. But it's running everything that was previously done by four older, separate Pis - and pretty fast. This was definitely one of my better whim-purchases.
