“After looking around eBay and Amazon for the bits needed to get a Raspberry Pi up and running, it seemed easier to buy a box with all the necessary bits in it. This avoided the risk of buying wrong bits and delays because necessary bits were missed out.
The Desktop kit does indeed contain everything necessary (except for a monitor) and a very straightforward instruction book on how to put things together and get started.
I am amazed at the capbility of this tiny computer.”
“The kit looks great, is easy to install and has an excellent introduction book. The only problem is that the raspberry pi overheats, so I had to buy a new case for £16 + £2.99 = £18.99 to keep it cool.”
“Perfect all in one box solution for beginners wanting to get into the Pi, would have preferred the mouse, keyboard and HDMI cables to be 50% longer and a larger SD card, full size HDMI ports on the Pi would be better, would also have been nice if they had included a heatsink/fan for cooling, installation is easy and initial boot options simple to follow, once setup with a full Raspian it makes for a very good desktop environment, great for people wanting to try out Linux for the first time too, the silent operation is very nice but it's hard to tell if the Pi is still powered up or not when you shut down as the Power LED stays lit when the USB power is still connected which in itself is a nice reminder to power off at the wall, maybe having 3 colour LEDS would help there, the USB hub built into the keyboard is a great addition giving you 6 ports in total with 4 spare to add external devices like gamepads and HDD's, Overall this is perfect out of the box Pi starter solution and I highly recommend it, especially for the price.”
“I bought the Raspberry pi 4 specifically to be able to re-use my hard drive. I was disappointed to find that this feature is not available on the pi 4. The fault is mine because although this can be done on the Pi2 and 3 I did not check this for 4, yet...”
