“I bought the pi desktop kit together with a 10.1” screen from waveshare. The pi was excellently presented, well up to the standard of Apple’s offerings. No mat needed for the mouse; that’s good. I had trouble with setting up the screen to start with - absolutely no guidance. The ribbon cable connectors ,I found eventually ,use the cam-lock principle for securing the cable rather than the wedge-lock I’ve come across before. When I finally got it together I could access the Waveshare website, and found that there is a video describing the process! though in typically atrocious ‘Chinglish’. I’m used to RISC-OS, so I’m finding Linux a bit challenging. However, this morning, while trying to enter my wife’s e-mail address into a writable icon I found that the wiring of the pi keyboard is faulty - the @ and “ symbols are interchanged for instance, along with a number of other wrong connections. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon? I find it strange since the connections must be part of the printed circuit board.”
“The desktop kit was excellent and did all that I expected the only problem was the integration with the approved pi monitor.
It all went together well except that the image is up-side-down, I understand that this is a common fault and it would be an idea to give a step by step guide to turn the picture through 180 Deg.”
“Delivered on time. Packed extremely well. With a 245 page Beginners Guide.Sections relating to assembly were very detailed and useful.
However, coloured examples in Chapter 4 (from page 49 to 51 and part of 53 the Blocks were virtually impossible to read. I think that it was due to the absence of good use of contrast between block and text colour and text size. This has brought my enthusiasm to a lower level.
I am wondering what can be done, perhaps in a text version, to help avoid the slowing down of my journey into interesting and rewarding programming.”
“Brilliant solution for kids to do their homework without spending £100s on a laptop. Keyboard is a bit sticky for me, but kids are a lot heavier on the keys so works no bother.”
