“Brilliant! I had already flashed an USB stick so it was up and running in 15 minutes. I have it connected directly per Ethernet and the increase in speed is noticeable. It's running at about 55 degrees, which is fine. Wonderful incremental upgrade to the 3B. I love the case too, ingenious design.”
“Nothing groundbreaking over the the original Pi3 here (notable sticking points are the 1Gb RAM, the same old USB2 bus, and still 32bit raspbian), but improved thermal management of the SoC has managed to get even more performance out of the machine.
This is still the best value small computer platform.
I use mine for Amiga Emulation.”
“I love the new Raspi. I’m using mine for Octoprint with my CR-10 and also a VPN server running PiVPN and finally it runs Homebridge to add some of my non Apple HomeKit products to the Home App. It handles all of this flawlessly!”
“This is my 3rd Pi, and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
Couple of gotchas to follow, as of writing the review, only a few distros are supported by the 3B+ and it has greater power requirements, so I recommend getting a proper power supply.”
“An excellent addition with 802.11ac and gigabit connectivity tho thruput still limited to 300Mbit due to being connected via usb2.0 bus which is a pity, better cooling of cpu due to this package having a heatshield, this is still helped if a heatsink is installed. Better placement of the wireless adapter means less likelyhood of the adapter being damaged during installation of the RaspberryPi case.
Overall tho at the same price as the previous model make this a good purchase.”
