“Great camera with excellent image quality. Importantly now comes with adjustable focus, so you can focus it to infinity or for close-up work. Easily adjusted with long nose pliers, or I just used my finger nails, but you must support the main camera body too. RPi installation is easy and there are many options available. I use http://elinux.org/RPi-Cam-Web-Interface as it provides stills, video and movement detection.”
“The noir camera is good for surveillance and should be combined with a strong IR lamp in order to take pictures in the dark. Four LEDs powered from 3.3V is not enough and the IR light should not be too focused. Scattering the IR light in a wide field gives the best results. Further, there are many settings and it is advisable to follow instructions to test each setting to find the setting that is best for the target application. I have used the picam software package to set up a surveillance project. It is a good start. Be careful about the connector on the raspberry pi since the plastic is fragile. It is very easy to get started.”
“I am pretty amazed with the much improved quality from the 8 megapixel sony sensor. The pictures are much more vivid and have better contrast. A new unseen world opens up with this module.”
“Positive:
- Very good in low light conditions;
Negative:
- Very narrow view;
- Colors in darker areas are not natural;
- Ribbon cable breaks easily if being bent too much.”
“I was so impressed with the Pi Zero W that I bought the ZeroView and a camera module.
What they don't tell you is that the cable supplied with the camera is not the same as the port on the Pi Zero!
The cable supplied fits the other Pi boards.
You need to buy a special adapter cable to fit the Pi Zero.
Hope the PiHut team get this made clear soon.”
