“So far it looks about the same except for the addition of the Wifi/Bluetooth. I replaced my Pi2 with the 3 which I use for Kodi. My Pi2 was running Openelec with Kodi. I switched the SD card into the Pi 3 and it didn't run. I had to reinstall a new rev on a fresh SD card. So they're SD swapable in my one experience. I haven't tested other SD card distros in this way so you may have different results.
I switched to using OSMC as a base and I don't see a difference in performance when using Kodi. It plays files and streams the same as the Pi 2. I'll explore overclocking, etc. as use demands. It's worth the upgrade just for the Wifi. No extra usb things to buy, except external storage, so that's a big plus.”
