“I bought the Pi because I run an IT consultancy, my daughter was working for us over Easter, she needed a powerful box to run on (compared to her ChromeBook), so I leant her my MacBook Pro, and needed something to use myself for a few week... and a Pi sounded interesting, and possibly "enough".
It's been an interesting voyage of discovery. For what I needed, in particular some of the more heavyweight Docker stuff, I ended up moving to Ubuntu rather than the normal OS. The only thing I really miss about the Mac is a decent editor - VSCodium isn't as good as full VSCode, and Atom is (alas), not available...
... but with her back to University a couple of weeks ago, I've found myself using the Pi more and more as the "machine of choice."
Which is shocking, considering how much less than a MacBook Pro it cost...”
