“Great kit to start right away but the SD card is unfortunately not what I call high quality. It is the most basic Class 4 SD card you can find on the market, while Openelec would require a Class 8 or 10. Apart from that, the only complaint left is about the RPi itself. It is a great little device but the missing power button defeats the purpose of a media center that doesn't have to be on all the time and it gets quite hot so I will never leave the device on. I live in Norway and shipping was surprisingly fast and very well packed.”
“My order for the RasPi mediakit was processed and delivered promptly! It worked "right out of the box". On the software-side I have some remarks: This kit I bought to do experiments. I discovered however that - when I initiate a SSH-session as "root", I have no "write" rights. The openelec-system is "readonly". I think it is a wrong decision not to give the owner all the rights. 2nd remark: the xbmc system does not always "listen" well to mouse-clicks. E.g.: to enter the Master lock code many times I have to click at least twice with the mouse. Streaming goes well as long as I have na external HDD (iOmega) attached. All together: I am happy with the Raspi Media Kit. I just ordered some accessories.”
“I replaced my Freebox (media center provide by ISP) by the RPi connected to between my NAS and my TV.
XBMC works directly and can be control from my original tv remote (Sony KDL 32EX500).
For maximum confort, I add à foot switch (http://goo.gl/jwxj8) to start the RPi who start my TV on !!
