“I bought this to replace the NVMe Base because I want to use both NVMe slots. However, the ASM1182e controller is only capable of Gen2.0 data througput speeds so if you can live with that then it's a decent NVMe board. One caveat though (https://github.com/geerlingguy/raspberry-pi-pcie-devices/issues/609 - Until the issue Can’t boot Pi 5 via NVMe behind PCIe switch / bridge is resolved, you can use two NVMe SSDs (or other M-key devices), but you will not be able to boot directly off of either slot.) if you are planning on installing 2x SSD on this board make sure the recent firmare issues with the Pi not booting are resolved, or you'll be wasting your time.
If in any doubt, pay three times the price of the NVMe Base Duo and buy a Seeed PCIe 3.0 Dual M.2 HAT for Raspberry Pi 5 instead.”

I have just finished assembling it into the case with two 1tb nvme m.2 drives and my Rpi5. The quality seems quite high, and the online instructions were very helpful too. “To begin with, I was a little worried as there wasn't any printed instructions included, but then there's no need when you can visit the site. I was already using a NVME m.2 base board with a 1tb Sabrent RKT. I had a second drive spare and formatted ready to go. It was easy to install and was working on first boot. I'm fairly new to using a raspberry pi, but have built many windows pc's so I was relieved it was so easy. I have my Pi5 running Casa OS and Jellyfin and i'm delighted I now have 2tb of accessible space to use. Easy, well made and effective.”
