“Easy installation. just the flat cable between the RPI and the NVMe base is a bit weak. But if you pay attention there is no problem. The product is perfect to me. The NVMe drive replace the SD card. I've installed an OMV NAS and all the filesysteme and boot are on it.”
“Awesome bit of kit. It feels surreal to be booting from an SSD. The only issue I have is finding a case that will accommodate it. I may just be not looking hard enough. It’s early days.”
“Much better performance with the hat compared to an SD card and less clunky than using an external SSD linked to a USB drive.
It is a bit fiddly setting it up and it took me a few attempts to seat the ribbon cable correctly. If you buy this and it says hat not detected then it is highly likely the cable isn't attached properly. You will see a blue light when it is connected properly.”
“Great way to add an NVMEe disk (a spare Samsung 970 EVO that was languishing idly in a broken laptop) to my new Pi5 . In conjunction with an aluminium armour case and some short standoffs it's possible to create a compact and smart looking setup.”
“Loaded my OS on to a NVME card and installed it on the Hat Base. Booted first time and worked great. I then enabled PCIe 3 and it was soooo fast. Love it. Should come as a standard fitment with the pi. I had to 3d print my own case though as there isn’t a lot of commercial case support yet for this base.”
