“This started with an innocent google of 'low cost NAS streamer' and is now a well-used component in my high end hi-fi system. I found a few forum articles and also the John Darko YouTube channel (worth checking out anyway) talking about how easy and cheap it is to stream really high quality music using the Raspberry Pi and Allo products. I considered the Allo DAC HAT, and the signature, and concluded this DigiOne is the best introduction to high quality streaming.
It sounds really good! The way the music plays is very engaging, and whilst not the detail of my usual naim CD player, nor the slam of high end vinyl, it's a great listen.
It's also a different way of listening, using volumio to drive the music selection via the app. That's more streaming though, and what the DigiOne offers is a great sound at a reasonable cost. You need to be fairly dedicated to set this up, there's more to it than plug-n-play, and also experiment with the cable between the Allo and the DAC. Happy listening!”
