“To get this working you need to do a couple of things...
1) this does not work on newer Pi OS, this is due to a change in some of the coding. You can run the command and it will shift to this display but it won't boot and will just get stuck on the load page.
2) You will need to download Bullseye Pi OS to use this, unfortunately on the RPI website they don't have it available for flashing for use on a Pi itself but a quick Google will find it. Download, unzip and then flash
3) Once you have downloaded and flashed to an SD card then you can proceed as instructed in the product description.
This took me 3 days to figure out but hopefully this can save you some time rather than returning it and feeling dejected!
The screen is okay and I would strongly suggest instead of the stylus or sausage fingers, a mini mouse and keyboard such as the Rii combi board, just make sure you use the USB 3.0 ports or it won't work!”
“It doesn't seem to work with an official Pi OS - the product's instructions require you to download and install some other version, so I don't know what the security is like. It's a bit too iffy to connect to my network, so I'll be returning it to Pi Hut for a refund.”
“Really good, I've had it for months now and it works really well. I've taken it apart and rebuilt it multiple times when I've needed to access the Pi itself and it's really convenient to take apart.
The screen is also really good, it's not phone quality, but the touch screen works great and it's clear. The screen does tend to have that "distortion" that cheaper screens have when viewed at from an angle but that's not a problem at all. The screen is also really easy to set up and change the orientation. I was running VNC with it and VNC doesn't seem to work (as far as I know) with the screen.”
“It works, but it is rather tempermental with specific software I wanted to use, so it sadly was useless for my needs. Also doesn't like to run on 64bit versions of Raspbian, or versions of Raspian that's too new.
The refresh rate is also rather low, but not an issue if you're just using it to check on things.”
