“I was impressed with the quality of the case, and the screen quality is more than I expected. A great product, especially if you consider the price point!”
“There are two things to know about here, the case and the screen.
The case is good, sturdy and well made. It has slots in the back for mounting to a wall or similar in any orientation, which is very useful. It screws together and apart easily and feels robust. I does a fair job of drawing heat away from the Pi too.
The screen is acceptable, but probably not what you want.
I wanted to use it as a second small screen, as an extended, extra, display to the main display which would be going over HDMI.
It can't do that (at least, I can't find out how to make it do that.)
You can change between this and HDMI output using a script, but you need to reboot and the one suggested with the display messes around with config files so could easily undo any changes you have made, so you would need to tweak or roll your own if you are touching anything in /boot or xorg's config.
The resolution is fair for the size, and the touch function works accurately with the included stylus. It is difficult to touch with any accuracy using your fingernail (finger won't work) especially around the edges when in the case as it is recessed.
It is nice to have a pi with a display in a robust case, but you won't be doing much computing on it. Even the calculator takes up the entire screen and very few applications (even the raspberry pi configuration has issues) handle the resolution well.
If you want to have two displays working simultaneously, this is not what you want. Get something that works via HDMI.
If you want to have a portable raspberry pi, this is also probably not what you want unless you have a specific interface you know will fit and work well.
Overall, I'd buy the case again, but not the display.”
“A very nice display and easy to install and use with the supplied plastic stick. My only concern is, that without a fan, the case gets quite hot. However it has not failed after a few weeks, so obviously not a problem. For such a nicely made case I was surprised that there were no stick on feet supplied.”
“Great addition to my Pi collection. Not sure what I’ll use it for, but after a few aborted attempts with previous software, I got it working with a clean install ans following the instructions.
Needed to find a heat sink as it gets a bit warm.”
“What an excellent case with builtin touchscreen. It is the case and screen for a Pi used to control other Pi's in a project using cameras. both controlling and allowing me to view individual cameras.”
“This screen and the box is well made and easy to fit to the Pi4, It works well and the clarity of the screen is good given its small size and the cost of the item. There is one slight problem that I have noticed so far is that when this item is used with a pi 4 it appears to disable the blue tooth feature, but suspect that this owing to the ability of using the touch screen. There still remains a requirement for a keyboard if you wish to type in instructions. There is no way to write in letters in the way that is possible on a smart phone.”
