“Great little case that allows for easy access to all your Pi 4 ports (unlike my other FLIRC case).
The case's heatsink element only covers the CPU and RAM chips very well but it does not cover the Ethernet or USB chips and so it might be worth looking into another case if you require heavy cooling of USB or Ethernet too. I'm not sure why the other two chips are not covered as the case could easily be modified to do so.”
“About as minimal and functional as you can get for a metal Pi4 case. Full access to all connectors and ports. You can opt for a fan hat, I didn't bother, and am glad I didn't - I don't see where the fan would extract the air too unless you left the lid off. Assembly is really simple, 1) Add thermal pad to Pi, 2) Put Pi in case, 3) Add 4 supplied screws to secure bottom of case, thru the Pi, 4) Add 4 supplied feet, 5) Add case lid. Done.
Once assembled, I immediately loaded up 'stress' on the Pi and left the CPU at 100% for 5 hours, temperatures did not exceed 70 degrees (ambient 20 degrees). Very pleased with the thermal performance.
Only 1 niggle, the magnets the lid attaches with aren't the greatest, and the lid 'wobbles' around. Not a major gripe, unless you are deliberately wobbling your Pi you wouldn't notice!”
“I bought this case for my main Raspberry Pi workstation. The case is very easy to assemble and use. The magnetic lid gives easy access to the GPIO, which itself has all the pins labelled on the case. The passive cooling works particularly well. With a Pi 4B 8GB on high load, the heat is quickly conducted away from the chips, into the whole case body. This meant that even after a couple of hours of constant high load, the whole case was just slightly warm, with no hotspots anywhere, even on top of the processor! The case radiates off the heat very efficiently, so that only a minute after shutdown, the case is cold again. The CSI and DSI connectors are very easy to access, and the case even has a camera mount, though that mounting slot is a tight fit. This case is so good, I am going to get another one.”
“The case does its heatsinking job well. The reason for the 4 stars rather than 5 is the lid, which is machined, I think, with too great tolerances so it feels loose all the time. It's simple to assemble, though it should be made clear that although two thermal pads are shown, there is just the one which covers both the processor and the memory module.”
“A high-quality case, the aluminium frame makes it feel sturdy. The top is connected via magnets and all the ports are accessible. A minor annoyance is that machining inaccuracies have caused a slight wobble on the lid however this has no impact on performance and is just being picky.
Just a slight warning that when paired with a HAT there are no supports on the pin header side which means you can press the HAT further down on one side which causes it to sit at an angle on the Pi.
I run Pi-hole and piVpn on it with ~80,000 queries a day and temps sit between 40 and 45 degrees.”
