“As another review mentioned, the opening for the camera lens is too small and causes the case to no longer close properly while using the Raspberry Pi camera V2 (don't have the V1 to test). As a result of the size issue, the lens hole MUST be expanded to a larger size to completely accommodate the V2 camera. However, after widening the hole and installing the camera I found out that atttaching it to any standard 1/4" mount would likely cause a short circuit on the rear of the camera and could potentially even cause a fire if not attended/ caught in time. I ended up using a piece of anti-static foam and some electrical/ insulation tape behind the camera to avoid shorting anything out. This product DEFINITELY needs a redesign and correct certification on fully supporting the V2 Raspberry Pi Camera. Overall it's usable, but not ideal and needs to be redesigned.”
“Not actually very good, the clips on the end severed the ribbon for the raspi noir camera☹️
It falls apart easily and has to be taped shut when on a camera pole. It’s not waterproof. Better than nothing but a toilet roll would provide as much protection!”
“Two things made me rate this with three stars
It does not really work with the camera V2 which is stated in the description but still annoying since it is a nice simple and cheap house for the camera
Instead of removing the sticky-rubber spacer that are there for a reason I make the hole in the front cover larger and that also works without having to tamper with the camera
The second problem is that the tripod tread is to shallow and the tripod screw will press against the camera board”
“I do not believe that this is suitable for the v2.1 camera as I broke my camera trying to make it fit in this case. It does state on the website that some modification may be required, it is basically my fault I broke my camera as I was aware of the risks involved.
Website comment:
"Please note: the Pi Camera v2 (8 Megapixel) is just a bit thicker than the original, which might cause the camera to press against the case and cause blurry images, depending on how it is focused. The easiest way to fix is remove the sticky-rubber spacer that is between the camera module and PCB. Gently remove the camera module from the PCB, peel off the spacer, and re-plug the camera module. Problem solved!"
I broke it trying to remove the "sticky-rubber spacer", the lens came off. I just think that this is something people should NOT need to do, I cannot be the only one that has broken their camera doing this. I am not a novice in anyway and was not harsh in the slightest, just for clarity.
In my opinion, to save anyone else heartache (and expense), this should not be marketed as suitable for the v2.1 camera. Thanks”
