“I had been running home assistant for a while in a docker container on my laptop, while that worked it was a pain as I needed to keep my laptop running 24/7. When looking for alternative approaches I had considered a raspberry pi, however when browsing I spotted the home assistant green. I decided to go for it and it has been a great experience. I've been able to integrate all of my homes smart devices into it.
I did need to purchase a separate zigbee dongle for it which was a shame, I would have been happy to pay a little more for one that included it.
Other than that it was dead easy to set up, literally just power and ethernet and away it goes. I've had it running for a week now and haven't had a single issue with it. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone getting started with home assistant.”
