“This is a really good hat, takes the Pi4 together with this to primare np5 in terms of sonic and audible performance. The apps I tried it with all read it easily and could set as attachment. Together with the Pi4 this is a really good combination, but it's sonic performance will highly depend on your system transparency. In my system this is way better than a wiim pro but as a streaming transport. As none of the apps you can use with it supports tidal connect you have to get used to it if you coming from wiim. The difference is night and day.”
“I needed something that could play DSD audio files to my DAC and this seemed to fit the bill. Attaching it to my Pi 5 could not have been simpler and I soon had them in a case and cabled up to my hifi. When you consider how much commercial players cost, this set up was an absolute bargain and the sound quality when playing any music files is phenomenal and I could not be happier with it.
The only difficulty I had was not with the hardware but making sure the software had all the right plug-ins and codecs installed which can be a bit of a trial with DSD files but after a little detecive work everything is running fine now and I am listening to a lot of great music thanks to this little device.”
“I've a cheaper such device ( no names..) but once I'd sorted out the software I favour, this device is a considerable sound upgrade, plus I got excellent support from HFiBerry. Recommended!”
“The performance was significantly better than I expected and a noticeable step up from the non pro version. I could tell no difference between this and a dedicated streamer costing x20 more.
Highly recommended”
“Very well made little device, i cant speak for how the sound quality varies compared to without the digipro 2 as i did not try just the raspberry pi 5 without it to start with (pi5 usb out to DAC)
However before i was using an android phone to my mojo 2 DAC (with usb audio player pro app) and it was definetly not as good as using this, soundstage was bigger, background was darker, zero jitter like you get from computers/phones and it is audible, great addition for those using a pi soley for music streaming, using the SPDIF connection to coax on the mojo 2 for those interested as the optical couldnt output more than 96khz on high res audio platforms, the coaxial carries 192khz.”
