“I ordered the Retro Gaming Bundle from PiHut, it arrived within 2 business days which was great, however, although I understand it to be rare, my Raspberry Pi 3 model B arrived dead on arrival. I tried comprehensive troubleshooting by replacing all peripherals with appropriate alternatives, but the device was definitely dead. I raised a support ticket detailing my full diagnostics, and was disappointed to receive a copy & paste canned response stating dead Pi's are very rare and I should try a new SD card, PSU, etc. After responding that this had all been done I was asked to return my device for testing, and a new one would be dispatched if it was found faulty. I did so and heard nothing back, it was over Easter so I allowed a week before contacting them back myself. This time I received a response from a different person who despite advising that they had not yet received my return, sent out a replacement unit immediately regardless. I received the new one the following day and it worked first time. I have spent the last week or so testing and tinkering before I posted my review because I've had a lot of errors, but I'm now confident that it's working great. Unfortunately I left the bundled 16gb SD card in my Pi when I returned it, my fault not PiHut's (however if a rep reads this and discovers it I'd love to get it back). Other than the Pi itself, the rest of the contents of my Retro Gaming Bundle was of high quality and good value, and makes a great nostalgia filled project, and if you're a techie tinkerer like me you'll love it. I have to knock off a star for a dead unit and a canned response to my first support request, but now it's all sorted I'm very happy with my purchase. Finally a piece of advise for beginners; I've learned that not all SD cards are created the same. Some of the cheap eBay ones I've gathered over the years gave me repeated frustrating errors. Not that they're necessarily re-labelled smaller card, but for example a ~£10 32gb unbranded card may not be quite as large as a 32gb premium card such as a Samsung Evo, resulting in failed image writes.”

“Everything works as ist should, except Gamepads - slow, nearly useless in semi-fast Fighting Games (tested on SNES, Mame etc.). So sadly, useless Bundle - get standart Bundle, two decent Gamepads and you are set.”

“The Pi3 itself is great and can even play N64 & Playstation 1 games well. What's not so good in this bundle is the controller. It's ok for the 8bit and 16 bit Emulators but no good for the N64 or Playstation. Also I'd recommend a 16GB memory card as a minimum if you want to store & play Playstatioin Games.”

“Loaded Retropie, and it just worked. The controllers look the part but don't feel fabulous, they seem a little "sticky" but maybe I haven't worn them in yet. But the kit itself is nice, and the case is especially nice (opens easily to let you add/tinker, including hiding the RPi cam inside the RPi logo on the case). The power supply is more than up-to-scratch, and I've played PS1 games at full-speed using the Wifi for Internet / local network sharing, XBox 360 controllers over a USB wireless interface, Bluetooth to connect to some keyboards, Wiimotes, etc. all at the same time.”

“Delivery was very quick and contents were neatly packaged together. Had my retropie setup and working within an hour. Price was very reasonable, my only gripe would be I think there is a slight latency issue with the controllers but doesn't really matter as I use my Xbox/PS4 controllers. Used it recently during a house party and played 4 player games like micro machines and bomberman, we had so much fun a few of my mates want me to build them one.”
