“Building the Coral USB library in Gentoo has proved challenging, especially with Google's bazel being complicated and having over 1,000 open issues pending when their tutorial is broken because of version creep. I suppose eventually I'll get there. Pi Hut was great in delivering the product while I was on a wait list. I may buy from them again, but for the fact I'm in the United States making shipping a bit more expensive. Thank you Pi Hut.”
“Purchased the Coral USB Accelerator to use with a Intel NUC7CJYHN running Debian Bullseye 11.5 and a number of docker containers. One of the docker containers is Frigate, and the Coral is working very well for object detection on 8 camera, 4 at 1080p and 4 at 4K.”
“Purchased to be used with Frigate NVR and object / people detection, it works exactly as expected. With inference times a minimum of 10x or faster than cpu I am able to run many more camera’s at higher detection resolutions.”
“Seems to do the AI part ok... however, any kind of continuous use makes it overheat and it becomes unavailable to host system. Personally I'd love to have not spent the money on this. It feels like it's got potential but the constant overheating and hanging makes it useless / worthless for any kind of real world usage.
