“Important to me in a USB hub is to make sure that the hub won't pass its 5 Volts through to the host computer's USB port when operated as an active hub. And with this hub you have peace of mind. I checked the voltage on the USB plug in active mode myself with a voltmeter. Rest assured, your PC's / Raspi's USB port is safe with this hub. It probably uses a switching transistor, a Schottky diode or something like that to protect the downstream port. If you use the Raspi's orginal power supply, you have enough current to run various USB equipment, solely powered by the bus, e.g. BD / DVD drives or HDMI audio extractors without the need for an additional power supply. So, both thumbs up!”
