“The instructions in EduKit3/PiHutControllerInstructions.md
work fine down to the point where you are instructed to run
sudo pip3 install approxeng.input
which comes back with an error message of "incomplete read"
I haven't found a contact point at PiHut or with the software author to address the problem.”
“I bought a couple of them and I'm really satisfied. Literally just plug the toggle and play. It works great with most of the games I tried for Emulation Station (specially forSNES, PS1 and SEGA 32X), it is precise in controls and gives immediate reaction to commands.
Great value buy.”
“I recently purchased one of these and use it for gaming on my rapsberry pi. It can be used wirelessly and used for multiple game systems. I'm going to purchase another too!”
“I'd seen this type of wireless controller before but it was quite expensive. This controller is easy to setup and just works ,the price makes it an absolute bargain.”
“At first I was a bit skeptical about these controllers, but when they came in the mail and tested them I was happily surprised. They work and react just like you would expect them to, they also don't feel cheap which was one of mine concerns when I ordered them (I bought two of them worrying that one would break fast, which turned out to be unnecessary). The connectivity is also very well, I never experienced delay's or lag.
One downside, I find the LED indicators between the tumbstick a bit bright, but nothing too distracting. If you would really want to get rid of them, you could always cover them up easily.
This review was written with RetroPie usage in mind, since that is the only thing I tested these controllers on.
In recap:
- Good quality build (firm grip, the weight is good and the buttons feel 'real')
- Connectivity+++ (never lags!)
- Works very well with RetroPie (all the buttons are configurable through the menu's)
- A little too bright of LED indicators on the controller
Use-cases:
- RetroPie”
“I was an early adopter for this Gamepad, at first I tried to associate the controller with the Pi 3 via built in Bluetooth and didn't have any joy.
However - the Q&A emerged and mentioned it's just plug and play and it really is but YOU NEED to plug the dongle in. After that, it is instantly recognised and works great.
Tested on various Retropi images and works on everything.”
