“I ordered this cable for my Cubietrucks. I was using an FTDI controller board before, if i had to install Debian there. That board doesn't fit through the housing, so i always have to remove it, if i want/have to use the serial console. This cable allows, to connect through the housing. Since i am using Linux on my laptop, where i manage the Cubietrucks, there's also no issue with drivers. Minicom connects flawless, but i am sure, cu, tip and similar tools will do too. I would love to see a 5/3.3 Volts switch on this cable, like this FTDI board has, that i bought some sears ago for an Arduino-Micro clone, so this would become a "one cable fits all" connector.”
“A great bit of kit at a great price.
Connect the 4 wires to Your Pi, plug in the USB to your PC or Laptop.
Using Putty, SSH into your Pi and away you go.
No need for a power cable for your Pi, as the power is supplied via the USB.
Drivers are already installed on Linux.
If your using windows, you will need to install drivers.”
