“Currently using it to program some wifi modules for different IoT projects.
Works great under Linux. Has some driver issues with Windows 10 but it all depends on the hardware that you are connecting.”
“The cable is well built and works fine. I’m currently using it to provide 5V power breakout from a USB charger since it’s basically a bunch of wires.”
“This version of the cable uses the old Prolific chipset. The drivers for this chipset are not fully compatible with Windows 10.
There is however also a version with a purple connector. This one uses, as far as I know, a newer Prolific chipset that should work well with Windows 10.
I have thus black version and to prevent my system from crashing I hook the USB side up to an old Pi that I do not use. This old Pi I connect to my system by ethernet.
I have to use this serial cable for programming a pi zero from which the USB connector is being used as a midi over USB port”
