“I've been craving these since living in Hamburg, where I could get a matjesbroetchen on almost any street. Unlike rollmops, they have a smooth, savoury and buttery smooth taste and they're a treat for anyone who loves fish. I'm eating them the original Dutch way, dipped into diced raw onion and then eaten without bread. Heaven!”

“As with first time - very well organised delivery service. Slight query however : the herrings were still frozen but not totally rigid even though I took the box directly from the courier. On opening the beautifully crafted cardboard box I saw the sachet with dry ice had torn and the gas had escaped. Is this safe? I haven't yet tried eating a herring. I separate them into pairs while still frozen and repack into freezer bags. Is there any way you could supply them this way and not as a solid block. We are a 2 person household so this would be much more convenient.”
